After not enough recovery from yesterday's brush beat-down on Beaverdam Peak, we were visiting the opposite side of the valley today, heading to a view of the Cly basin. It had rained some overnight, and the clouds were still malingering. |

Another off-trail hike with these two? Tom was reviewing his life insurance policy. |

Lots to look at on your way over the ridge. This is Burnside Peak. |

On the other side of the ridge, we did a short traverse to a boulder field. |

On the other side of the boulder field, it's easier going. As the clouds finally leave us, Ruby pauses to enjoy the sun. |

I have to apologize on the lack of photos, but it's familiarity. The first time up a peak, I'm excited to document everything. But after that, I'm happy to just enjoy the views. So I didn't take any pictures of the ridge scramble, but here we are on the summit. |

Here's where we were sitting. Zoomed summit photo from later in the day. | ![]() |
More views. Here's Beaverdam again. |

This is looking southerly, with Sawtooth Peak rearing its head on the horizon. Centered is 65ish Peak, our next scheduled stop. |

65ish zoomed in a bit. Notice the fall colors. And Cly 1, sort of at its base. |

Zoomed in a bit more, here's the summit of 65ish. A few trees and a couple blocks of granite. | ![]() |
Here's Sawtooth zoomed in a bit. | ![]() |
And speaking of fall colors, if you didn't notice that little splash in the previous photo, here it is zoomed in. | ![]() |
We found a cool way to get to Cly 1, then proceeded to catch a few brookies. Meanwhile, there was some sort of critter on the opposite hillside that had Ruby's hackles up. Time to go investigate. |

On the north ridge of 65ish. Tom's orange top sort of camouflaged him. |

So much to look at. And take pictures. |

The view from the foot of the summit block. Dave took pictures of Tom and I 'a cheval' on the summit block. Visit the link below to see Dave's photos. |
