After a slow, slow start to winter, it was finally here. Big time. Cold. Lots of precip. So we were discussing where to best enjoy the recent powder. With a Winter Storm Warning in effect, I worried about Copper and the potential for road closure (and a long, long drive home through Ketchum). The approach to Jug seemed long. So we opted to go back to Big Creek Summit, which we had skied last January, but it was more like Spring conditions. Good call. Today: 18°F, 20+ inches of fresh snow. Easy drive, no traffic, and the first ones in the lot.

On the other hand, there was already a skin track! |

It took about an hour to get to the top of the knoll, where we ripped skins in a stiff wind. Let's do this! |

Snow. Lots of snow. |

Keep goin'! | |
Big smiles. Note the depth of snow. There is an entire section of John's poles that you cannot see. |

Another lap. Looking at the steepening slope. | ![]() |
Weird perspective, but this is looking downhill at Tamara skiing toward John. | ![]() |
Don't you dare stop! |

Map. We did three laps, only returning to the car after the last one. |
