This was a quick solo hike that starts very near the trailhead for Josephine Lake. It climbs a steep hillside through the old burn. Did I mention steep? Be ready to climb over some downfall. And abandon ship if the wind is blowing. |

I had intended to follow the more moderately-angled drainage shown on the map, but the deeadfall steered me into more of a straight up route. |

Climinb straight up the hillside at a good clip, it didn't take long to get some views. That's Squaw Peak. |

Summit. About 50 minutes. That's Bear Pete in the background. |

The vew to the east, with some Seven Devils and Patrick Butte. | ![]() |

And here you can see green Josephine Lake in the near left, Upper Payette lake shining to the right of center, and then a little father out, Payette Lake and McCall. |

This is looking down Nethker Creek to Burgdorf. |

And there is the road and the Josephine Lake trailhead. You can just barely see my truck is just at the left-side end of the visible road. | ![]() |
